Gary’s Story: A Journey at The Preserve

Gary came to The Preserve Senior Living at Mentor Ridge with a clear goal in mind: to work toward walking again. During his time with us, he found more than just a place to recover—he discovered a community that supported him, cared for him, and brought him joy.



One of Gary’s favorite experiences at The Preserve was Happy Hour Fridays, a highlight of the week that gave him something to look forward to. Beyond the events, the people made his time here truly special. Dana, one of his favorite staff members, stood out for her knowledge and helpfulness. “When I asked a lot of questions, she had all the answers,” Gary shared. Jamie, another favorite, earned his admiration for her hard work and dedication. “She does whatever the task is,” he said with gratitude.

Gary also found joy in the simple pleasures, sharing, "My favorite thing to do at the facility was go around in my wheelchair and meet new friends." The staff played a significant role in making him feel cared for and comfortable. “My room was always clean, my bed was made every day, laundry services were reliable, and the aides were always cheerful,” he said.

When asked if he would recommend The Preserve, Gary didn’t hesitate: “Absolutely. The whole place is very clean, the food is great, the staff is wonderful. This place is like a five-star hotel.”

Gary’s journey at The Preserve is a testament to the power of compassionate care, a welcoming community, and the importance of little moments that brighten each day. We’re honored to be a part of his story and to support him as he works toward his goals.
