Questions & Answers

What is an assisted living and when might I need it?

The assisted living level of care is different from the skilled nursing level of care in that the residents often do not need post-hospitalization services. Assisted living centers offer a housing alternative for older adults who may need help with dressing, bathing, eating, and toileting, but do not require the intensive medical and nursing care provided in skilled nursing centers.

How do I pay for Assisted Living?

Some long-term care insurance plans pay for some or all of the cost of assisted living care. Medicare, Medicare-replacement plans, and commercial insurance do not cover the cost of assisted living care; however, they do sometimes cover the supplemental services you can receive in the assisted living setting. For example, outpatient therapy services and home health care are often covered by insurance in the assisted living setting.

How quickly can I move in?

That depends on your needs and goals. We would be happy to sit down and talk with you about that at your convenience. Most people spend 2 to 4 months researching assisted living options. While others opt to trial an assisted living by staying there for a week as a respite stay. Others stay for a short amount of time in the assisted living setting after a hospitalization to get stronger before returning home. We can accommodate a variety of move-in timelines to meet your needs.

Can I receive therapy services?

Yes! Therapy services will be available through your preferred vendor. Typically, Medicare and Medicare-replacement plans pay for therapy services under your outpatient (Part B) benefit. Therapy services – including the aquatic pool – at our neighboring skilled nursing facility, Mentor Ridge Health and Rehabilitation, will also be available to residents who medically qualify for therapy services.
