Fresh Paint for The Preserve
September 10, 2021
Some buy paper for the first anniversary, others a clock, to celebrate the time spent in that first year. For The Preserve’s first anniversary, we got a fresh coat of paint!
In typical Preserve fashion, it isn’t just any typical paint. Our walls were coated with Sherwin Williams’ SuperPaint, which features sanitizing technology. Not only does the fresh paint brighten our walls, but also it delivers continuous antibacterial action by killing more than 90 percent of bacteria within two hours of exposure.
“It’s important that our space isn’t just beautiful,” says Michelle Gorman, Executive Director at The Preserve.
“It has to help keep our community members and staff safe and healthy.”
The antibacterial paint is not the only environmental feature that contributes to better health at The Preserve. The air system is also equipped with an ultraviolet light air purifier.
“The UV light filter is good for killing bacteria and viruses,” says The Preserve’s Maintenance Director Jason Pupparo. “
And, by killing those things, we also cut down on odors in the air.”
Various studies have shown that UV-C light, when emitted at a certain wavelength and duration, is very effective in stopping viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew, and fungi by breaking down their DNA or RNA. Even coronaviruses such as COVID-19 can be killed with long enough exposure to the UV light in our air purifying device.
Continual investment into a clean, bright, well-maintained environment is a priority for The Preserve. Our staff understands that creating a healthy home for our community members is key for everyone’s well-being.
