A Royal Affair: Valentine's Day at The Preserve
February 15, 2024
Amidst the cozy confines of our assisted living center, love blossomed in every corner as we celebrated our first annual Valentine King and Queen contest. The anticipation hung thick in the air as the ballots were cast and the verdict was finally revealed. Oh, what a thrill it was to don the regal attire - velvet robes, silky golden sashes, and jeweled crowns adorning our heads! In that moment, we felt like characters straight out of a fairytale, relishing in the noble honor bestowed upon us.
Every detail of the celebration was meticulously crafted to shower us with love and warmth. Peter Tavens' melodious tunes filled the air as he played beautiful love songs on the piano. The Grand Room transformed into a romantic haven, adorned with heart-shaped balloons and whimsical Valentine decor. Our beloved Executive Director, Dana, graced us with a heartfelt poem, specially written for the occasion, while presenting each of us with a delicate rose, symbolizing our cherished bond.
But the true pièce de résistance? A delectable spread of dark chocolate-dipped strawberries, bananas, pretzels, pound cake, and marshmallows awaited us. Each heavenly bite was topped with whipped cream and adorned with red sprinkles, a sweet indulgence that perfectly complemented the love and joy filling the room.
As we basked in the warmth of the festivities, one thing became abundantly clear - here, within the walls of The Preserve at Mentor Ridge, we were not just residents; we were family. And on this special Valentine's Day, surrounded by laughter, music, and love, there was no question - we were cherished, always and forever.
